We have always had a strong team bond within our Supported Learning Team, but over the last couple of weeks I have learnt to really appreciate how lucky I am in work within such a supported environment. I’ve had to handle a few blows lately, the most recent was the passing of my Nana from a stroke. This resulted in a mercy dash down to Taranaki to spend the last couple of hours with her, and then spending time between Taranaki and Auckland supporting my Aunts and my family with the funeral arrangements. This resulted in me having to leave suddenly from work, and I was away for just over a week all told. Not the best of circumstances for the rest of the crew, but they just picked up the pieces and kept powering along the whole time. It is really awesome to know that no matter what happens, we are all willing to band together and support each other through thick or thin. Not having to worry about work took a lot of stress away and I am very grateful to everyone for their support. I have worked in environments that haven’t been so supportive in the past so it makes a real difference having a strong team backing you up. So a big shout out to the Supported Learning Team here at HPSS – Thanks!
